Over the last few years, Indian commerce has gotten remarkably fast. Groceries in ten minutes. Food in thirty. Anything, seemingly, at the tap of a screen. But ask any household how easy everyday living actually feels, and speed isn't the word that comes up first. Fragmentation is.

Fast, but not connected

Think about what a single evening actually requires. You need to remember what's already in the kitchen. Decide what to cook or whether to order instead. Find the right ingredients or the right dish. Place an order, maybe two, on two different apps. Wait. Repeat most of this again tomorrow.

Each of these is a solved problem in isolation. Grocery delivery apps have nailed speed. Food delivery apps have nailed variety. What's missing is the thread that connects them the fact that "what's for dinner tonight" is really one decision with several possible paths, not three separate errands. There's a second, less visible fragmentation happening behind the scenes. Commerce today mostly moves in one direction: from source, to warehouse, to doorstep. What happens after that the packaging that's left over, the food by-products, the things that could be recovered or reused — is treated as a cost to deal with later, if at all.

Faster fulfilment hasn't fixed this. If anything, more orders means more of this "after" problem piling up, unaddressed.
